My Book and I Share a Birthday

Today feels special for a few reasons.

Yesterday, on 1/28, Own Your Career: Take Control + Accelerate Your Professional Growth, my book baby, officially turned 1 year old. Cue the confetti! 🎉
And the clock turned one year older for me, too.

I love sharing my birthday with such a big personal milestone. Same launch day. Still in awe that I made that dream come true.

Reflecting on a Year of Career Growth and Ownership

This past year has been one of the most meaningful chapters of my work, and I wanted to pause and share a few moments that still make me smile.

One year ago, I held a book launch party on 1/28/25, surrounded by friends, clients, family, and the community that has supported me for years. That night was equal parts celebration, gratitude, and deep exhale.

Writing a book is one thing. Releasing it into the world is another.

How Own Your Career Opened New Professional Opportunities

Since then, this little book has gone places I never imagined…and it opened the door to so much more.

This year also saw the launch of the Own Your Career Community, a space I’d been dreaming about for a long time. I spoke on the main stage at GetWITCon 2025 with a message rooted in Thrive Forward. I hosted another powerful season of Exposing the Hidden Reality with Sandra Wint, bringing smart, thoughtful women to the front of the line to share their stories. I also spent time networking, learning, and laughing with the incredible women in the Cleveland South Working Women Connection chapter.

Recognition for Own Your Career and Women’s Leadership Work

One of the biggest surprises and honors came when Own Your Career was featured in Cleveland Magazine’s “50 Cleveland Book Releases We Loved in 2025.”

Seeing my work included alongside so many talented local authors was incredibly affirming, and a reminder that telling women the truth about work, growth, and agency really does matter.

What Matters Most When Building a Career

What I’m most proud of, though, isn’t a list or a headline.

It’s the messages I’ve received from readers who told me they finally asked for what they wanted. They stopped waiting for permission. They made a move that felt scary and right. They saw their career differently, on their own terms.

That’s always been the point.

What’s Next for Own Your Career

As I look ahead, I’ve been toying with a new idea (insert dramatic pause), recording the audiobook version of Own Your Career.
